Promote Your Site by joining Social Networkings

Posted by Dunn on February 4, 2008 – 5:15 pm -

Now it’s about time to introduce the site to the public. There are several ways to do, and one of them is submit it to the Social Networking. By submit to the social networking, other members of the community will be able to notice your site, and if they like it, they might join your community or even bookmark your site for their future reference. Here’s the list of the social networking that I had joined :

MyBlogLog

MyBlogLogMyBlogLog is one of the biggest social networking site which have a hugh amount of members already. So this is a must joined networking if you want to promote and get traffic to your site. For registering with MyBlogLog, you have to have a Yahoo account. You register your profile and your blog. After registering, they will ask you to verify your site by publishing an Undergoing MyBlogLog Verification in your post or by adding a meta tag to your site. Being MyBlogLog you are able to add other members as your friend and/or joining the community of the site that you like. And what I like the most is their widgets. They provide a widget that you can put on your site with pictures of the most recent MyBlogLog members who visit your site and the other widget is to display the five most popular outbound links from your blog. MyBlogLog members also can get their sites statistic such as where the readers came from, what readers views and what readers clicked. But it’s not live. The latest information you will get is yesterday statistics. Unless you upgrade your membership to Pro which cost $3.00 per month or $25.00 per year. If you already a member of MyBlogLog, click here to join SimplyDunn community.

BlogCatalog

BlogCatalog

BlogCatalog is a social networking where you can promote your site by introducing your profile and submit your site. It has similar features with MyBlogLog, has a recent readers widget as well. The feature that you don’t find in MyBlogLog is BlogCatalog Discussion and Group Feature. In BlogCatalog Discussion, you could find many choices of discussions that interest you and being active in the discussion will help to promote yourself and your blog. If you are a BlogCatalog member already, click here to join SimplyDunn neighborhood.

Spicy Page

SpicyPageSpicy Page is a social networking where you can interact with other members by voting for their blogs. There’s no price you will get in return, but by voting for other blogs, you will get noticed and then they will visit your blog in return and probably will vote for you as well. They have some features that will have you to promote your site, one of them is the feature where you can submit article from your recent post that will show up in the main page of Spicy Page. Try to use the title and description as interesting as possible, hopefully readers will get interested and click your article which will bring them to your site.

TechnoratiTechnorati

Claim your site at Technorati, therefor people can add your site to their Technorati favorite if they like it. The more you’ve been added, the higher rank you will get in Technorati. And if you’re lucky enough maybe you will listed in the Technorati 100. Check out the interview with David Sifry, the founder and CEO of Technorati, to find out more about Technorati and the tips to increase your Technorati rank. Submit Your Site To The Search Engines

Posted by Dunn on February 2, 2008 – 2:47 pm -

Search Engine

So far you think your new website has been completed. What should you do next? The first step for your website to get noticed is to submit it to the major search engines. The major search engines that I always like to submit my new sites to are Google, Yahoo and MSN. While there are other search engines that may be able to bring you some traffic, we will just stick to the top three for now.

Submit your site to Google :

  1. Google is the most popular search engine on the Internet, and it’s entirely free for the primary listings. Google bases its search results on website content as well as their patented PageRank algorithm which factors in links from other websites to determining your rank in the search results.
  2. Click here to submit your site to Google.
  3. Add your website URL, enter the characters you see into the last box and then click on the “Add URL” button.

Submit your site to Yahoo :

  1. Second most popular search engines. Yahoo controls the search results on MSN, AltaVista, and Alltheweb in addition to its own search results. And the submission is free.
  2. Click here to submit your site to Yahoo.
  3. Enter your Yahoo ID and password into the form provided.
  4. Enter your website URL into the “Submit a Website or Webpage” form and then click on the “Submit URL” button.

Submit your site to MSN :

  1. The third most popular search engine.
  2. Click here to submit your site to MSN.
  3. Type the characters displayed in the picture, enter your website URL and then click on the “Submit URL” button.

You only need to submit your website to the major search engines once. Submitting your website multiple times has no effect on your position in the search engines, neither effect the frequency with which the search engines will visit your website.
