The Official Facebook for BlackBerry Version 1.9.0.20 is Available To Download

Today RIM has released an update for Facebook for BlackBerry version 1.9.0.20. The new version has new features include support for Facebook Places, a dedicated inbox that syncs your Facebook messages, updates to Friends and Page lists, Facebook search, a redesigned navigation bar, friends list page and other improvements.

Facebook Launched Facebook Places

Facebook has launced his new application called Facebook Places. It’s similar to Foursquare, where you can check-in in the places that you visited and share your locations with your family and friends through Facebook in real time from your mobile device.

When you check in, you can also tag friends who are with you, just as you can tag a friend in a status update or photo. You can post an update along with your check-in to tell people more about what you are doing.

With Facebook Places, you are in control of what you share and the people you share with. You choose whether or not to share your location when you check in at a place. You also have the choice to set more restrictive customized settings.

How to Disable Facebook Places :

Log in to Facebook. From Account choose Privacy Setting, then click Customize Settings.
Scroll down and find Places I check in to. From here, you can set how you want it to be visible in your Facebook account. Choosing Only Me will disable or it will not sharing any location to anyone.
Include me in “People Here Now” after I check in will let people know you’re at a particular location via the location’s page or in a search for people near you. Uncheck “Enable” if you don’t want this.
Any friend could potentially check you in anywhere. You don’t actually have to be there. If you don’t want your friends to check you into Places and share your current location, scroll down to Friends can check me in to Places and set to Disable.

So far, Facebook Places only available for US users only with the new version of the Facebook iPhone Application or are accessing the touch.facebook.com. And will become available to everyone over the next few days.

The Official Facebook For BlackBerry Version 1.8.0.49 Is Available To Download

About a week ago I just posted about the Leaked Facebook for BlackBerry version 1.8.0.31 found online. And today Facebook had released the Official Facebook For BlackBerry version 1.8.0.49 in App World. It’s actually the same, but you still have to download the official one for you to keep using the application.

Leaked Facebook For BlackBerry 1.8.0.31 Beta

Facebook for BlackBerry version 1.8.0.31 Beta has been leaked. The latest official version is 1.7.0.22. There were rumors that version 1.8 was being tested in the BlackBerry Beta Zone, so guess the tester decided to leaked it.

Since this is the version in the Beta Zone, there are steps that need to go through to be able to run it in your device. Make sure you follow all these steps below :

Make sure you have the latest official version of Facebook for Blackberry installed.
Download the Facebook 1.8.0.31 Beta application
When the download is finished and you are prompted to reboot, DON’T!
Press the red call button to escape to the homescreen.
Go to your Facebook application icon and click it.
Accept the terms and go into the application.
Once the application is running, open the menu and select options then logout.
Re-run the application and input your login credentials to access Facebook.
Reboot your BlackBerry after the Facebook application fully loads.
Once your BlackBerry is up and running, access the Facebook application again. It should now be version 1.8.0.31

EntreBar

Finally Entrecard launch their official Entrecard Toolbar, the EntreBar. After a long awaited, and experienced with so many kind of toolbar just to make the drops easier. It packs the entire Entrecard site and also enhances your ability to do a lot of Entrecard related things.

This toolbar installs directly to your browser, and lets you hop from site to site by clicking a single button. It will let you browse your inbox and other Entrecard sites more easily and buy ads on any site you want right from your browser. The toolbar is for Firefox only. So if you haven’t use Firefox, you’d better download it. And make sure you are running Firefox 3 to make sure EntreBar works properly.

Features that you would find in the toolbar :

The first button is a button that lists all your EntreCard account. Using this button, you can switch instantly between any account you own.
The second button gives you the report of your credits, drops you’ve done today. The drop down menu gives you the options for the quick access of your dashboard, message box, ad calendar, statistics, linked blogs page, and buy EC page.
At the third button you can choose who you’d like to browse. You can choose to browse by inbox, favorites or any EntreCard categories.
The fourth button makes you possible to browse your inbox by the most popular, or the most advertised sites in the Photography category, or maybe you’re looking for the least expensive sites in the Entertainment category. Just choose, and the toolbar will automatically take you to these sites.
The green arrow button is the button that will take you instantly to EntreCard sites. If you click the single green arrow, your browser will open 1 EntreCard site. If you click the double green arrow, your browser will open the next 10 EntreCard sites. But if you want to open more than 10 sites, maybe 20 or 30 sites at a time, check out impNERD’s post about how to Open More Than 10 with EC Toolbar.
The heart icon button allows you to bookmark your favorites. If it lights up bright red, that means they are in your favorites already. And if its shaded grey, that means the person is not in your favorites. Just toggle between them to add or remove someone from your favorites.
Next to the heart icon, is the interaction menu. With one click, you can go to their profile page, send them a message, write them a recommendation, give them credits or report them for a violation.
Right after that, is the One-Click Advertising button. Any site you are on, will display its price, and if you want to advertise on the site, just click this button.
The last button which located in the right side of the toolbar is the EntreCard Menu. Which the options are EntreCard blog, community forum, support forum, bugs forum, help section, and log out.

Avoiding NSFW

I believe there was some circumstances where you had to be aware or at least more careful for what you gonna click. Maybe you were in the office with the boss or colleagues around you, or at home when your kids were stayed close to you. But the chances are, sooner or later you are going to click on something you probably shouldn’t. In most cases, you don’t know what you are getting into until it’s too late.

To solve this, there is a Firefox Extension you need to install. No-NSFW is a Not-Safe-For-Work content warning system. It will warn you about NSFW links before you click them. When you hover on an external link, the plugin gets the rating (NSFW, SFW or Unrated) for that link. This is displayed on the bottom right of the screen.

NSFW rating is determined by user votes. To report a site for NSFW content, click on the No-NSFW icon on the Firefox status bar and select “Mark NSFW”. If a site has been incorrectly marked as NSFW, you can mark it as SFW using the “Mark SFW” option.

The extension works with Firefox 3. This small and simple plugin will surely safe you from the uncomfortable situation. And you can easily disable it whenever you want.

If you’re using adverting network such as Adsense or Abrite, you might ever experienced the difficulty to find the color code for your ads to be blended into your theme. Optimizing the color in your ads very important cause it could affect an impact for your revenue. The readers has the tendency to ignore anything that’s separate from the main content of your site. That’s why it’s very recommended by Google Adsense to have the background, the text and the link colors have the same colors with your theme.

There is a Firefox add-on that’s very useful for this matter. ColorZilla is a Firefox extension that will assist you with color related task. With ColorZilla you can get a color reading from any point in your browser, quickly adjust this color and paste it into another program. But this is only available for Firefox browser.

It’s very easy to use. All you have to do is download and install the add-on. After restart, you will find the small eyedropper icon in the bottom left of your Firefox. First you click on the eyedropper, the arrow will change to +, then you click the color that you want from your theme. Soon there will be some code shows beside the eyedropper. That’s the code for the color that you need.
