My other site, My Interesting Files is having problems after transferring from Blogger custom domain to Wordpress selfhosted. All the post already imported to Wordpress, and in Blogger account already set up using FTP publishing, but still the individual post of My Interesting Files was viewed using old Blogger layout.

If you go to the homepage, it will be viewed using new Wordpress theme. But if you click the individual posts that I had imported from Blogger, it will be viewed using old Blogger layout. Not only that. All the link in the Blogger layout, point to the address that does not even exist anymore.

So to prevent this, I had changed the permalink without “.html”. So when the reader clicked the individual post, they will see the post using the new Wordpress theme. I don’t know yet if this going to be permanently or only temporary. Will post again in the future for sure. See the different :

old permalink : /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html. eg : http://www.myinterestingfiles.com/2008/03/balance-mobile-concept.html

new permalink : /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%. eg : http://www.myinterestingfiles.com/2008/03/balance-mobile-concept

Does anyone know how to fix this? Even the transfer department from my hosting company who did the transfer and ended up with this problem can not help me to solve this. If any of you ever faced the same problem, please share your experience by leave a comment here or contact me. I really need help.

To avoid having same content with two different URL, I’ve decided to switch back to my old permalink structure which is using “.html” in the end of the address. If you want to see the different, just go to the homepage and click one old post. You can see the different from here.

Is your internet connection so slow enough for you to throw your computer out of the window? If it does, try install Toonel. I’ve been using it couple of days already and I admit it really works. Using Toonel is very easy. All you have to do is download the Toonel software that suit with your platform and set the proxy configuration of your browser to 127.0.0.1 port 8080.

For Mozilla Firefox user, you have to change your proxy configuration as follow :

• Open Tools - Options - Advanced - Network - Setting
• Select Manual Proxy Configuration
• Fill in HTTP Proxy : 127.0.0.1 Port : 8080
• Select ‘Use this proxy server for all protocols’
• Click OK

For Internet Explorer user, here’s how to change your proxy configuration:

• Open Tools - Internet Options - Connection
• Choose the connection that you’re using - Setting
• Select ‘Proxy Server’ and fill the address with 127.0.0.1 Port 8080
• Click OK

After finish setting up the proxy, close the browser. Open the Toonel software, then open the browser again and start browsing. If you see the stat in the Toonel software is moving, that means the Toonel is running and you can see the different yourself.

And here’s the tips of how to make a privacy policy for Wordpress :

First, login to your Wordpress dashboard, go to Manage -> Page -> Create New Page. Copy and paste the privacy policy that you just created using the privacy policy generator, then click Save.

Second, login to your control panel (C-Panel), go to public_html -> wp-content -> themes -> theme that you’re using -> footer.php.
For those who use Wordpress 2.3.1 and later, you can go from Presentation -> theme editor -> footer.php.
Add this script in footer.php. You can put it in whenever you like.

Third, to make your privacy policy page not showing in the page list, you have edit Query in post.php file.
From C-Panel, go to public_html -> wp-include -> post.php
Use search function, find this script :

And replace with this one :

$query .= " WHERE (post_type = 'page' AND post_title != 'privacy policy' AND post_status = 'publish') $exclusions $inclusions " ;

Then click Save.

Fourth, go back to your Wordpress dashboard, go to Manage -> Page -> Edit Privacy Policy, then you Publish this page.

Now it’s done. If you do it right, instead in the navigation page menu bar in the upper side of the site (home, about me ,etc), you will find the privacy policy link in the bottom of your site. For the example, you can my privacy policy link in the bottom of this page, right before Powered by Wordpress link.

Google Adsense has updated their Term and Conditions. If you are an Adsense publisher, there are some changes that you need to know. Here’s the summary of the changes that I found in labnol.org :

1. You shall not display any Ads, Links or Referral buttons on any error page, on any registration and thank you page, on any chat page, or in any email.
2. Each web page that contains a Google Search Box must also contain other content related to your site.
3. You shall not place Google ads associated with multiple AdSense accounts on the same web page.
4. Adsense Referral products (like Firefox, Google Pack, etc) must be placed on web pages that contain other content that related to your site.
5. If you are participating in any of the beta AdSense features (like AdSense for RSS Feeds), you should not talk about them on your blog.
6. If you have elected to receive content or Site-based Ads, you further agree not to display on any Serviced Page any non-Google content-targeted advertisements. If You have elected to receive Search Results on any sites, you agree that Google will be the exclusive provider of Internet search services on such sites.
7. If your AdSense account is inactive, Google may donate your accumulated earnings to charity.
8. AdSense Publishers probably need to add a new privacy policy to their website disclosing information about ad cookies to visitors.

All this new Google Adsense Term and Conditions, you are required to accept them before May 25th, 2008 else you may not be able to continue using your Google Adsense account. If you haven’t, just log in to your Adsense account. You will first be prompted with this agreement before you can access your account.
